Lisa Whitney

Veterinarian/Practice Owner

Dr. Whitney is a 1999 Graduate of Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Vermont and went straight into rural mixed animal practice. In 2003, she began working at Danville Animal Hospital with Dr. Stan Pekala. Dr. Whitney purchased our practice in 2008 upon Dr. Pekala's retirement. She has a special interest in quality wellness care and strengthening the human-animal bond. When she's not working, Dr. Whitney is hiking, biking, horseback riding, gardening, milking goats, and spending time with her family in the great outdoors.

Janet Hill


A native Vermonter and former dairy farmer, Janet has been working at Danville Animal Hospital since 2000. Janet keeps our hospital running smoothly on a day-to-day basis- she knows most every client and patient by name! When she isn't working, Janet is enjoying her beautiful gardens, or spending time with family and pets.

Julia Mercon

Certified Technician

Julia graduated from Vermont Technical College with a BS in Equine Studies & AS in Veterinary Technology. Shortly after, she began working at Danville Animal Hospital. Julia has a special interest in Dental Health. She also handles all social media, technology maintenance, and practice inventory. When she's not working, Julia is horseback riding or making updates to her 1800's Vermont farmhouse with her husband.

Melissa Heath


A Danville native, Melissa grew up on her family's dairy farm right in North Danville. After graduating from Vermont Technical College's Veterinary Technology program, Melissa started working to help NEK pets immediately! She brings over 20 years of skills and experience to our team. When Melissa is not working, she likes to spend time in the woods with her dog Nym, and pamper her "fancy" cat Mavi.

Courtney Stearns


Courtney graduated from Vermont Technical College with a BS in Equine Studies & AAS in Business. She came to us in 2018, with previous experience as a veterinary receptionist. Courtney jumped at the chance to learn some new technical and nursing skills. When she is not working, Courtney is running her business, (Vermont Elegant Equine, LLC) or spending time with her menagerie of animals large & small!

Pati Pagels


Pati moved to the NEK from Massachusetts to join our fabulous DAH family! She brings 15 years of technician experience, and is always wearing a smile. Pati currently lives in Danville with her companion, their three dogs, two cats, two goats, and gaggle of hens. Pati enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, sitting by a crackling campfire & enjoying the great outdoors.
